Client Testimonials

Strong Forestry has been managing our timberland for more than 25 years, and the difference in yield per acre that we’ve seen compared to our previous forestry manager is significant.
Mr. Strong develops treatment plans in advance of reforestation efforts that are specific for each tract of land, and adjusts land prep as necessary depending upon the conditions on the ground (e.g. burning, treating for invasive plants, etc). His knowledge of relevant tax laws and government cost-share programs has been of significant benefit to us and has reduced the financial cost associated with reforestation efforts. Additionally, his knowledge of environmental regulations has ensured that our harvesting and reforestation efforts are in accordance with NC laws and protective of waterways.
He routinely surveys our stands of timber and readily advises us if/when any concerns arise. Mr. Strong is diligent in monitoring market conditions and advising us regarding the appropriate time to harvest in order to ensure the best return on our investment. As an absentee landowner I have every confidence in Strong Forestry and know that our property is being well cared for.

Russell Strong provided the knowledge and experience that I needed when the loblolly pines on my Valley Drive property were ready to harvest. After interviewing several foresters, he was clearly the right one.
He worked diligently to secure a worthy bid for the trees and ensured that the guidelines for a safe and environmentally appropriate harvest were followed.
Additionally, the land had been placed in an easement with the Three Rivers Land Trust. Mr. Strong was well versed in the standards of this additional stakeholder. Ultimately, the trees were harvested and the land remains a protected portion of the Pee Dee Valley Drive NC Scenic Byway

Over the past 20 years, I have dealt with many consulting foresters, and Russell Strong with Strong Forestry was by far the best. He took time to answer my questions, he was punctual, he was honest, and he always kept me updated as to the status/timeframe of my contract. I was never left to worry about anything related to the thinning of my trees. It was a pleasure to work with Russell! If an opportunity ever presented itself again, I would choose to work with him.

In North Carolina, the title "forester" is legally protected, requiring individuals to meet specific criteria to use it professionally.
The North Carolina Board of Registration for Foresters regulates the licensing program for Registered Foresters (RFs). To become an RF, individuals usually need a bachelor's degree in forest management or a related field, professional experience, and successful completion of the state licensing examination.
The purpose of this title is to instill public confidence in those who market themselves as foresters.

By leveraging their expertise, you can explore potential avenues for cost optimization and make informed decisions that align with your goals.

Depending on your location, there may be numerous foresters serving your county. This can make choosing the right forester overwhelming.
Some steps you can take to ensure you are making the right choice include;
First and foremost, if you know any other forest landowners, ask them for advice.
Obtain a short list of potential candidates. These lists are available online, or through your local state forest service office.
From this list, it may be a good idea to narrow candidates down based on their proximity to you or the property in question.
Once you have narrowed the candidates down as much as possible, reach out and ask questions such as the below;
What is your experience in forestry?
What kinds of projects do you normally work on?
Can you provide references from previous clients?
What are your fees or pricing structure, and what services do they include?
Trust is extremely important. For many landowners, their forestland is the most valuable asset they own, and choosing a forester who appreciates that should not be taken lightly. Use the conversation with your potential forester to get to know them, and ultimately, trust your gut in making a final decision.
